  The VN Group A Commodore with its 5.0L V-8 has to be the one of the best sounding race cars in history, love the on-boards with Brock.

  I watched this as a teenager from start to finish and loved every minute of it! Shame it never became a permanent part of Australian super car series, I do understand the irony of wishing a race in New Zealand be a part of an Australian series, but I just think it was a neat track.

  Crazy to think Wellington had a racetrack. I still follow the old race track today and tell my kids this is where Peter Brock crashed

  They must of put some weight penalties on that Sierra of Johnson to kill its performance like that, no way should it have been slower than that commodore.

  I LOVE watching racecars and drivers deal with bumps and undulations on the track.. I must be in the minority, because all tracks are flat as billiard tables these days.. Oh well, plenty of these wonderful old races on youtube to smile to..

  I drove that circuit back in the mid-90s (1995? 1996? &nbsp;Too long ago now to remember cleary) in a Nissan Primera GT touring car. &nbsp;What I remember most was how bloody bumpy and slippery the track was along the waterfront, especially at the southern end (before a sharp right-hander) . I think there were train or trams tracks set in the bitumen, and when wet it was like being on ice.

  David Oxton used to have a workshop on Carltongore Road in Grafton auckland back in the day,180 SX pace car cool man them E30 M3 4cly are crazy fast and well developed ,Group A was the best ,Nissan GTR ,BMW M3 ,Sierra Cossie ,Commodores ,Toyota AE86 ,TX3 Lasers lol The 4AGE FXGT smokes the Holden VL Group A 4.9 ,SS Brock lol
