Anyeong is Korean for "Hi" or "Hello". Tom Anderson asks "What's your name?" and the guy responds with "Hi". Now "Hi" is his name thanks to the language barrier.

This is incredibly realistic. Sometimes, in extreme stress situations, people just default to doing what they know. This is clearly all Mr. Anderson does. He fixes things. At the end of the day, he survived the war.

I like to think that Han Yeong doesn't even understand English, yet he thinks Tom is giving him crucial war information so he's listening as intently as possible—until he slowly starts to realize "Is this guy talking about my fucking plumbing??"
