As an American, I highly value manners. I've taught all of my kids to use: please, thank you, yes ma'am, no sir, etc. <br>Andy Andrews put it this way: "I want my kids to have every advantage possible to succeed. And if the difference between them and the next equally qualified job candidate is that they used 'sir', and they get the job because of it, then it would be worth all the effort."
