West Coast Canada Vancouver Island is our location. I’ve seen bees bringing in pollen a week ago, amazing! We have to treat against varroa otherwise they will die from the virus that the mite transmits. However we are letting them have their honey to feed on ( which also encourages hygienic behaviour, I would think) and hopefully the cluster is big enough to provide the warmth they need to survive their first winter here. Thanks for sharing. You are lucky to live in such a constant, warm climate 😊

Very interesting, I have been able to verify this many times by beelining. You can even play with the feeling of being disappointed if, after receiving information from a nectar source, it no longer contains nectar. I usually do this by moving the box more than 100 meters away and triangulating, with the beelining box full of disappointed bees. Once the box has been moved, before opening it, I use a straw to pour anise syrup into it, and they are happy. That way, they return happy, replacing the initial information about the location of the box, the amount of nectar, and the number of bees needed to recruit to bring the nectar to the hive. 100% agree with all that Kevin said, I do the same. Swarming is the natural procces to reset the beehive, I aslo don't feed the bees, and I use a compost base as emulation of the dendro micro-habitat, that contains pseudoscorpion and stratiolaelaps scimitus that eat varroa mites.

Great video! Have always wanted to be treatment free. Have 3 hives going into winter with no treatments this year. One of them being a second year hive. Its been challenging but fun. Hoping to make some splits next year.

As a Regenerative beekeeper and colleague of Kevin and Ryan, I can attest to the success of their Regenerative practices and their thriving honeybee colonies. <br>The biggest problem we are facing now is that after many years watching our the colonies go through natural selection and develop natural mite and beetle resistance, our area has been inundated by industrial commercial queen producers who’s inferior treated stock has been contaminating our survivor genetics. This shouldn’t be a problem in lots of other places, but my advice for aspiring treatment-free beekeepers is: &nbsp;let your Bees go through natural selection by swarming and then splitting out natural swarm cells, , as much as possible, try to keep your Bees isolated from large commercial operations and especially queen breeding industry yards

The background music is very distracting and loud. The topic is interesting enough and doesn&apos;t need the background music which detracts from the topic.
