Sunshine polish would be the norm. Models would have stayed the same since the 2000s. Galaxy would have been Mari07. Odyssey would have realistic environments with recycled stages set in World 1-1.

I’m glad Mario P-06 exists, it fixes all the issues I had with the original Mario 06

I think the reason Mario games seems more polished is because they are quite restricive in controls. Sonic games are letting more freedom in controls because of how fast you're going. Also a lot of people put engines in the polished/ not polished, but it's just SEGA not using the same engine more than a few times before going to the next one, doesn't let players get used to the engine before they have to learn the next one, it's not about polished, it's just not used to it's full capacity. Mario games re-use the same skeleton for the engine all the time, but yet they are so easy to make glitches happen. Mario games are meant to be played slowly but when you're a Sonic fan you can have the reflex of rushing through levels, and the game just keeps glitching and collisions get inconsistent, so clipping through walls and objects happens easily. While Sonic games, it takes more effort to break them, to a point where it's un playable, except 06 and RoL. I can play hours on end on a Sonic game without any issues, outside of the console having some input lag, because it has to load a ton of elements while im going at Mach 100. But with Mario games, I can't play 10 minutes without the game biting my ahh, with it's inconsistent physic and glitches. Also the reason Frontiers seems unpolished is because the last year of development was trying to make sure the Switch1 could run it properly without being its own completely different version, so a lot of of changes had to be made. We were supposed to get a freerom Super Sonic but just because the Switch couldn't handle it, we lost it. Another thing, Mario games are meant to be small, it's like complaining why GTA5 has more glitches than CoD Black Ops 3. One is clearly bigger and more demanding than the other. ( I don't how polished Black Ops 3 is, never played it but would be surprised it has more glitches than GTA5. ). Also I wont lie, Mario games don't make me feel anything outside of anger when they glitche out. There are exceptions with Mario Maker, 64DS and Odyssey, but a game should breing you joy playing it, instead of most levels feeling like a chore you have to do. And Im pretty patient, I played through 06 for crying out loud, yet I can't find the motivation to finish most Mario games, since they 90% of time, won't give you anything for finishing them, no achievement, nothing. Atleast with Sonic games you have achievements, some little things you can do that makes you want to keep playing. Here's the difference in how many hours I have on the Mario game I have the most hours and the Sonic game I have the most hours. Mario64DS: 70 hours vs Sonic Generations ( Xbox360 version ): 11 090 hours. And just to say, I got my Mario64DS copy 7 months before I got Generations. And Mario was lucky I didn't count spin-offs, because on SEGA All-stars Racing, I have 14 000 hours, been playing it since I was 3 years old, still playing it, tho 3 tracks don't work anymore because of how scratched the disk is.

They should do a deal where Miyamoto+Sakurai work on a Sonic game while at the same time Iizuka+Naka work on a Mario game; and then the 4 come together to make a MarioXSonic game
