  My friend had a 64 and I had a PS1. I played doom at his house and he played twisted metal at mine.

  I want to add that Doom 64 also received A LOT of hate not only because it was compared to Turok or GoldenEye but also to everything that was 3D, because when it was released the enemies and items were &quot;still 2D sprites&quot; and the engine was &quot;not real 3D&quot;.<br><br>I still perfectly remember a letter sent to Club Nintendo Mexico magazine from someone saying that they couldn&apos;t understand how Nintendo had accepted such a game with 2D enemies in 1997 and that supposedly &quot;spoke badly of Nintendo quality control&quot;. The hatred of 2D and the blind love for everything polygonal at that time was ridiculous and, personally, although I loved the graphical revolution that was happening, for me 2D was still amazing (one of my favorite games of that year was Mega Man X4 and a shitton of arcade fighting games on CPS2 or Neo Geo, for example). Time has shown how ridiculous all that hate was in those years (especially in the west) and that Doom 64 is precisely one of those few 3D games from that era that can be said to have aged decently.<br><br>Doom 64 is amazing. Is my Doom 3. Thanks for the video Matt!
