  From my experience you spend what you have. We are on a $100k catamaran and probably spend about $1500 per month. We could spend less but have found our comfort level.

  We spend 8 months cruising in our Lagoon 380 around the Gulf of Thailand, the remaining 4 months (Summer) we spend in the UK on our canal narrow boat visiting friends and family, we find that this is by far the cheapest way to have a base in the UK. Doing it this way we manage comfortably on 3,000GBP per month this includes everything even 4 x flights per year from Asia, we will be starting a blog soon to help anyone else who wants to chase their dreams.

  Thanks from the U.K. you are living in style ,it’s like most things in life costs vary depending on how long you stay in marinas ,size of boat etc etc

  I think even with depreciation factored in it's pretty good bang for your buck considering the places you visit. To remain living on land and do a round the world trip or multiple short trips, I don't think there'd be a great deal of difference in cost.

  Great video, very interesting. My intention is, working and living on a catamaran for several times per year. Working as a coach with small groups of people, helping them to find the purpose of their life. So let's see, how this adventure will grow... ;-)

  I plan on buying a used 500k cat in two years to live on the hook and forage for dinner. I will be melting down investments to pay for living expenses. Im a spreadsheet business guy and i read nothing that comforts me …..like maintenance is 20% of the boat cost per year..,,

  OK i liked subscribed and rang the 🔔.  Not sure if you completely deflated my ballon or just keeping it real- definetely high end cruising, the second set of numbers give  me hope! Going do some ocean sailing in Mexico, then the Admiral and I are going to sail in Mallorca, Sp this summer, this should let us know if we want to go cruising….  Thanks for the video. ⚓️⛵️ -Jim

  I'd love to hear your thoughts on the 25hp outboard, would you do it again?  My boat arrives in a couple of months and am going back and forth on the decision between the 20 and 30 (same weight as the 25).  Many people say get a 20hp w/ a fin on the cavitation plate to help get on plane (keeps the boat lighter for beaching and lifting on the davits).  But I'm seeing more and more folks w/ the 25/30hp on their tender.  Thanks.  And thanks for the data in the video, helpful.

  The only correct answer to how much is "all of it". Whatever your budget is, you'll spend every dime. Your budget for living is the same as it was in California, and no surprise, you're spending all of it.
