The Story of Ruth — The Foreign Widow Who Was Never Allowed In

The story of Ruth is not a sweet romance in a wheat field. The law said no Moabite could enter the congregation of the Lord "even to the tenth generation" — and God walked a Moabite widow straight through that locked door. This video tells the whole book of Ruth in full: the famine in Bethlehem (the "House of Bread"), three graves in Moab, Naomi who came home "empty," Orpah who turned back, and Ruth who would not let go — "whither thou goest, I will go." Then the barley field that just happened to belong to Boaz, the gleaning law for the stranger and the widow, what the Hebrew words hesed and go'el (the kinsman-redeemer) really mean, the midnight threshing floor, "Mister So-and-so" at the city gate — and the ten names at the end of the book that almost everyone skims past.
