  MADCHESTER came to the Hollywood Pallidium , The show was Happy Mondays, 808 State and A guy called Gerald.<br>I went to the show .<br><br>Wish I remembered the evening.

  I once stepped into a porthole that opened in front of me &amp; transported me to a World from whence I was to never return.......... That porthole was Whitley Bay Ice Rink, date was Nov 23, 1990 &amp; the occasion was Happy Monday&apos;s &nbsp;Pills, Thrills &amp; Bellyaches tour. &nbsp;I was an 18yr old lad from a tiny coastal village on the Northumbrian coast when I walked in............. When I came out, levitating, my perception &amp; the World had shifted, never to return. &nbsp;God Bless the Happy Monday&apos;s and all who sailed in her.

  The sad thing is that the Mondays were a far better band than they&apos;re given credit for. They could easily have dominated and defined the music scene in the 90s (and as a consequence, &nbsp;it would probably have looked very different) if they had got their act together.

They know what they&apos;re selling you, they know the crazy things you&apos;ll do to feed the habit and they&apos;ll see you in this state and still they&apos;re more than happy to take your money and hand you another bag of problems.

  I love how you do these videos. A lot of YouTubers would try to play up and clickbait with the drama of these bands but you just stick to telling the stories well and let the events speak for themselves. And most importantly, you use well-sourced information and are really thorough giving all the different angles. Really great work.

  Years ago I lived with a lad from Barbados and was listening to Happy Mondays.....he asked &quot; what&apos;s dis Spikey music?&quot; 😂....I told him who it was and he said he&apos;d never hear did them .....then I mentioned that it was recorded in Barbados..he replied &quot; Cheese on bread! Horse ? (Pauls nick name) ..everyone heard about dem dread&quot; 😂
