  As someone who used to have a lot of online friends throughout my life, I don&apos;t do online friendships anymore and I never will again. I can totally relate to you. Most of my &quot;friends&quot; throughout my life were online friends that lived across the country or across the world from me. &nbsp;I have pretty bad social anxiety and hate going outside, it&apos;s the only way to make healthy friendships.<br><br>I attracted all sorts of people online. Literal predators, mentally unstable people that used me to trauma dump and expected me to always be available and some even lashed out at me when I didn&apos;t agree with them or couldn&apos;t be there for them when they wanted. I used to open up with those people because I empathize with them, but one time I told a very sensitive trauma to a &quot;friend&quot; because she always said that she never judged anyone, but she ended up making fun of me. I told her later that I felt very judged and there set her off into a rage. She gaslighted me and threw it in my face that I don&apos;t have to open up to people, even though she always wanted to know about my problems and be a &quot;safe&quot; person for me to vent to. I blocked her immediately. Before that happened, she seemed to idealize me. She would like and comment on everything I posted and sometimes she would make similar posts the following days...<br><br>I also attracted people who acted like the liked me and cared about me, but then I realized that they only talked to me when they were bored and needed to be entertained. I had &apos;friends&quot; that would ghost me for months then would come back like nothing happened. One of them was a Norwegian girl that one time ignored my messages for 8 months and my dumbass sent her a message wishing her a happy birthday. At least she had the decency to reply right away saying that she was busy, even though she was always online. I gave her the benefit of the doubt because I know that Scandinavians have a very closed off culture and it takes time for them to consider people friends. Then one day it hit me that she was playing games with my face and I blocked her. <br><br>I feel that those people are even worst than predators because they&apos;re taking advantage of someone who&apos;s lonely and looking for genuine relationships. That&apos;s evil. Predators will usually move on if you don&apos;t give them what they want, but using someone as a clown to entrain you when you&apos;re bored is fucking disgusting.

  My online friends: Don&apos;t reply for two weeks at a time, then we&apos;ll have a five minute exchange and they&apos;ll be gone for another two weeks.

  I can relate so much to the friend that trauma dumps and doesn’t listen. I’ve had so many people tell me their life story but if I mention ONE thing about my life they completely ignore it.

  You missed one type: the complete fake. You end up finding out this person is a completely different person than you thought. Instead of a college student in Amsterdam studying to be an astronomer, it&apos;s a 12-year-old girl from South Africa obsessed with Indonesian pop idols. It&apos;s not quite a catfish, but it&apos;s every bit as mystifying that someone put so much time in a ruse that&apos;s destined to fail.

  irl friends can be better than online friends BUT online friends (depending on how long you know them) always make your day better bc yall connected even when u couldnt see eachother
