To vibrate your molds you can take a "Saw's All"/"Jig Saw" - remove the blade - and just press the machine onto the mold or put the mold on a table and press the machine onto the table and it will vibrate that concrete really easily! I can't take credit for that tip, I saw it on Youtube a while back (:

About 30 years ago stained glass stepping stones were popular and I made a bunch. I still have them today (minus the ones I gave away). Some are placed in beds as decoration but others get walked on every day. I’m in TN so we don’t have extended hard feeeze periods and that certainly helps, but none of them have ever cracked or deteriorated. (Knock on wood!!)) I didn’t put a sealer on them. I used a mix of sand and Portland cement and a friend rigged up a vibrating table for me. He threw together a two legged table from scrap, screwed the legless side into the exposed 2x4’s of the inside of a garden shed, and strapped an electric sander to one of the legs. The sander had a slow speed that was perfect for vibrating the concrete. Off-brand petroleum jelly was really cheap back then and I would grease the mold with a light coating of that. In more recent years I’ve made plain stepping stones and a big variety of flower pots and these days I also use cheap vegetable oil as you do. I still use the sand and cement - mostly because why wouldn’t I when I look at how good those old stained glass stepping stones look but also it lets you take your time as it’s not going to set up on a few minutes. Just my 2 cents. I do like your idea of edging and also the pot feet.

I found putting a board under the form and shaking the board and form together helped stabilize it and reduced the chance of breaking it.
