  they exactly knew and understood Harsha&apos;s question but dodged it cleverly.<br>SUMAARY OF HARSHA&apos;S CONCERN - in net accounting and &nbsp;net metering , the final bill &nbsp;for the consumer is calculated AFTER deducting the exported units from the solar panels. &nbsp; but in Net Plus - you only get paid a single unit price for the exported units WITHOUT deducting the consumers usage and the bill is calculated separately. &nbsp;this method is extremely &nbsp;disadvantageous to &nbsp;rooftop solar owners because they are exporting for a static amount while paying for &nbsp;electricity based on &nbsp;incremental usage - which means for every unit consumed over 180 will be charged at Rs.85 but the exported unit is only paid Rs.20 per unit &nbsp;regardless of &nbsp;how many units exported.

  The electricity company should invest in battery storage technology and buy what the people generate. In the long term, the generation will be by the people, not the Electricity Company. Direct the money set aside for investment in generation toward batteries.

  Most people do not understand the technicalities of energy generation, distribution, and consumption, let alone the economics of the energy market. Compounding this issue, the committee meeting was conducted entirely in English, which some participants struggled to speak. Furthermore, the questioners themselves lacked familiarity with the subject matter. The session would have been far more productive if non-technical participants had briefed themselves beforehand, and if the meeting had used a mix of English and Sinhalese to accommodate both the speakers and the YouTube audience. This raises a question regarding Harsha’s motives: why did he persist in questioning in English when it was clear that some respondents were struggling? Common decency should have dictated switching languages rather than putting them on the spot.

  The government is already investing on Battery storage plants and why can&apos;t the excess daytime roof top solar power be absorbed in the battery systems and &nbsp;supplied in the night to solar users.
