I wish they still made those econoline vans.

I consider my overhead to be costs I have even if we don’t work at all.

If you’re paying your guy $25/hr, you can’t just multiply times 8. For one thing, he might work more hours than he bills, but this doesn’t cover holidays and vacation, let alone payroll costs, payroll taxes, and health, retirement, or other benefits. It doesn’t even cover the company lunch.

I see. So you consider part of your employees’ pay to be part of overhead?

I kind of add up my direct costs and overhead, add labor, and then add my profit on top, that way I get the same profit no matter what the equipment costs.

Bad thing is the supply houses kill the small guys on price. We pay about 60-70% more for equipment. This country makes starting a business and growing almost impossible. Insurance and payroll taxes are killing me.

- what is your overhead? (building, staff, utilities, insurances, vehicles, taxes, the list goes on)
- two different types of departments (at least for this exercise): service and installation
- how does the overhead apply and spread across to each of the departments?
- M July 2024

How should one charge for a simple capacitor. I see companies charging $375. How should I charge when I have 0 capacity and still trying to find leads but still have personal bills that calculate into my company’s over head

When a point of SEER or HSPF is worth about $ 50.00 per season, I have a hard time charging$ 5000.00 more for its true value. Am assuming a 3 Ton Unit.
