Jamie, I graduated from the US Maritime Academy and specialized in corrosive salt water born craft with a minor with Plankton zoology and the need to preserve their existence. Needless to say, as Luigi researched years before, galvanic corrosion is present in all atmospheric conditions. As I was on the schools sailing team, we had many donated boats in our Maritime fleet. Tomas Watson the owner of IBM had Omega a 54ft Sparkman and Stephens design laid up in aluminum by Directors yard in NY. She was designed for Cowes week in England and actually won her class in 1972. After racing her for 2 years, Thomas donated Omega to MMA. Needless to say, in just over 2 years she had started to pit around the counter which our survey detected upon applying for insurance. There too, we reversed this pitting by osmosis and the application of a devcon sealant called Vimeo. Have you considered this application?

Absolutely brilliant summary! I know and rebuild boat electrical very well but I listened like a fresh student - all aspects covered in simple practical technical terms. Will send this to all my boating friends.

Another thing to be cautious of is when you are working with electrical wire. If you trim the wire and the loose ends drop into the hull and there is moisture it will corrode.
