  There is a straight tube that is located on the liquid line just before it leaves the condenser unit. Down inside the bottom. It has a bump in the line. It has a G E Part number. It clogges up and the compressor never builds head. That is what you have here. Nine out of ten times when I replaced that tube it fixed it. Also if it is clogged you can hear the compressor start and run. The orignal compressor was the one you cannot hear start and run. Ever. But if the high pressure switch is bypassed and it cloggs up and is allowed to run the compressor valve sticks wide open. So if I replaced the tube and it still had almost equal pressures I would take the top off, wire the compresser to run, start it up and pile drive the compresser from the top with a four foot long 2 x 4. Sometimes it would un stick the valve. Had units that ran for years after doing that. Hard to stop a Trane. I had 1,200 of those. It is the orignal Trane. It is what G E sold to The Trane Company. I tried to get the part number but I could not read the M Number.

  Best condensers ever made, by the time I got out of the A/C business in 2000 we were still servicing some units that were installed in 1972. This was in south Florida so they ran year round.
