I was caught off guard one time when a family member was taken to hospital during my work day…Bank holiday so nursery was closed, husband was in a no service area, baby sitter was writing an assignment for uni, so I asked a member of my staff (a mum herself) if she could look after my then 3yo while he sat at my desk watching a peppa pig playlist and had a few puzzles, crayons etc…she said yes, I left for 3 hours when I returned she was paid her own wages AND my baby sitters wages. No one owes you a favour and you don’t take the p1ss out of anyone. Treat people with respect and you’ll get the same in return. But don’t expect people to do their job AND look after YOUR kids too AND not pay them for both jobs! Be kind, it won’t kill you!

Suggestion for your restaurant hire employees so you can deal with the kids and make money at the same time.

Why?
Why people have children when they were not willing to spend any time with them???

Poor kids….

It can’t be good for business to have the kids running all over

What that couple were doing was mad. It was extremely unfair on those kids to be brought to restaurant each day by their parents to wait and wait and wait. Of course the kids were going to act out and explore the unsafe areas of commercial kitchen, storage room and bar area (none of which areas they ought to have been in).
As regards their family finances and business, that was a deterrent to customers and staff.
Plus, it was extremely unwise for that couple to both work in the one family business restaurant. If that restaurant were to go bust they would both be out of work with zero income into the home. Better for each to work in two different fuelds of work.

I think many families with restaurants juggle responsibilities. Jo helped with a routine and some techniques, but it's not an easy road.
