OS PRIMEIROS 10.000 DIAS EM MARTE | DOCUMENTARIO 2025

From the moment the first rover landed on Mars, humanity began writing a new chapter in its own history. Each mission sent to the red planet — from small probes to landers and even drones — is like a dress rehearsal for what is to come in the future: the definitive arrival of humankind on another world. Exploring Mars has always been more than a scientific curiosity. It is a necessity. If we want to guarantee the future of our species, we need to learn to live off Earth. But this is not simple at all. Colonizing Mars means facing temperatures that would make the Arctic seem pleasant, surviving in air that is impossible to breathe, and dealing with radiation that, here, would only exist inside a nuclear reactor. Still… we keep trying. Each mission sent brought a new piece of the puzzle — data, images, and discoveries that, little by little, transformed a planet that once seemed dead into a place full of promise. Today we know that Mars was once blue, had rivers, lakes, and even oceans. And if it was once able to harbor water, perhaps it also harbored something else. And now, after decades of study and planning, we are moving towards taking the next step: living there. But this journey is not just about rockets and technology — it's about courage, adaptation, and the human desire to keep going, even when everything seems impossible. The first 10,000 days on Mars will be a mix of discovery and survival. A grand experiment that will show how far we can go when the impossible ceases to be an option. To begin, before thinking about living on another planet, we need to figure out how to get there. NASA, SpaceX, and several space agencies have joined forces to make this mission a reality. From the Moon to Mars, from theory to practice, we will see the step-by-step process that is making the first human interplanetary journey possible. After finally arriving on the red planet, we will conduct a thought experiment where we will try to simulate what the first 10,000 days of a human colony on Mars will be like. From the first footprint to the construction of large cities, we will see what challenges the pioneers will face, and how the union of technology, knowledge, and will can make this dream a reality. But for humans to be able to settle on Mars, a water source will certainly be necessary. And guess what, Mars probably has one. During the missions, we discovered that Mars is much more alive than we imagined. Underground tremors revealed something surprising: an immense reservoir of liquid water beneath the Martian soil — a discovery that changes everything we knew about the planet and, in addition to providing this precious liquid for a possible future colony, also reopens the old question: does life still exist there? And to conclude our journey on Mars, we will analyze a small rock collected by the Perseverance rover, a rock that may answer one of the universe's biggest questions. In it, dark patterns reveal what may be the first concrete trace of Martian life. Perhaps microscopic, perhaps ancient — but enough to prove that we are not alone in the cosmos. My name is Pedro.
