  I&apos;m an exjw and former elder of many years in that high control religion (cult) and I can tell you truthfully that the way that organisation treats women and victims of abuse is deliberate and evil. Its part of the way the organisation is structured and men, especially ones in a position of power and authority from the top down have used that power to cause much harm to women and children and others. Its a culture that does not nurture growth or talent and suppresses peoples development through their archaic teachings and policies. Its so encouraging and heartwarming to see these wonderful courageous women find freedom to live life the way that they deserve to live. Thank you for your brilliant Chanel and how this platform will help and comfort so many women, children and even men who are trying to understand why these things happen.

  Shelise I want to share how far I have come! When I started watching your channel I couldn’t watch anything about the JW’s. Instead I watched about Mormons and other cults. Now I can watch an entire video about JWs without being triggered 🎉 Unfortunately Desiree and I have a great deal in common, including family loss, impact on education, emotional impact. It’s taken so many years to get to this point for me, but I am going to take a minute to celebrate my own progress and I am in awe of Desiree. What a great Linda Listen! Thank you so much to you both ❤❤

  What a wonderful interview. My husband and I started studying with the witnesses in 1985. We had three young children and one on the way. We were in for 36 years and were the role models of the congregation. We did everything we were encouraged to do: pioneered, all our adult children learned a foreign language and lived in other countries. We were very involved in the Kingdom Hall building projects. In 2022, my husband and I discovered the Australian Royal Commission and all the sexual abuse coverup. We were shocked and went to the elders. They denied it and our children were told that their parents were in a dangerous state. &nbsp;Shortly after that we were soft shunned. We disassociated in 2023 and started being interviewed on YouTube and eventually having our own YouTube channel. We expose the Watchtower to all our business customers and everyone we meet. We hate the abuse that they have caused so many. We are the voice that they didn’t have when they were young. Desiree is such a fine example of love of people and persistence. Thank you for this interview. Our four grown children have not spoken to us in four years. We still have hope that perhaps they will see videos like yours. Thank you very much.   Our daughter in law is an ex JW and at first she always asked if something was a regular tradition or if it was something only our family did. One year, early on, she gave us the candy canes she saved from Christmas, for Easter, &nbsp;because she thought they were so special. She gives us so many fun and happy memories.
