Interesting that Mother's Day is hardest, not the kids' birthdays.

I had one foot out the door with my parents when my mom told me that she was sorry that she didn’t stand up for me against my dad and that she wishes she could’ve made my childhood easier. Admitting that my childhood was unfair and apologizing for not being more of an advocate for me helped me mend the relationship with my mom. These parents just literally need to admit that the things they did were wrong or unhealthy and i genuinely don’t understand why it seems so hard for most of them.

There are so many missing missing reasons in her story. Like what happened to make the teachers at the school volunteer to take the kids??? As an educator, there are plenty of students I'd love to have as my own child theoretically, but for multiple teachers to get together with the child's therapist and come up with a plan to get the kids out of the home immediately, there's something dangerous happening.

I don't really think those people understand the meaning of love. They just repeat "I love my kids" like it's some kind of a spell that suppose to wash away every bad thing they've done to their kids. I hate it.

Children are usually far too forgiving. For a child to choose to be estranged, a lot of ish has gone down. OMG I am so sad for these kids. It is so lonely to not have your parents it hurts every damn day.

PTSD doesnt make you a shitty parent, refusing to get treatment does.

Her kid did a Matilda and moved in with the teacher. All the absolute power to them omfg, that's incredibly sweet and sad for her kid.

I really wish the school would have listened when I told them what was happening to me at home.

Reminds me a bit of an old friend of mine. She lived with her dad because her mom was a drug addict. Problem was, her dad was an alcoholic. When her step-mom divorced her dad, she tried to get custody of my friend because she didn't want to leave her with an alcoholic, and my friend BEGGED to be allowed to stay with her, but the courts didn't allow it. She now has no contact with either parent and still talks regularly to her step-mom

I hate parents saying “I did my best” as if that’s supposed to wipe away everything that happened. Sure maybe you did your best, but it wasn’t enough. You still fucked up your kids. You still have to take accountability.

“These kids can’t wrap their heads around that we love. That I’m still here off and on what did I do?”
They really think we just don’t care? I regularly cry because I’m in a situation where I want a mom. I recently had to go for a cancer scan and I was so scared and all I wanted was a parent there with me.

I convinced my mother to sign over guardianship when I was age 15. My high school counselor arranged for me to see a therapist, and both of them told my mother she could either sign over guardianship to another relative or I would be taken into foster care. My mother screamed, she argued, then she got real quiet and signed the papers. It felt like the ending to the movie Matilda. 😅

It's interesting to hear other stories of this occurring because I thought it must be pretty rare. It took me proving to two adults that my life was in imminent danger for them to agree to help me get out. Schools, doctors, & the state don't normally intervene in child custody cases unless there's something very serious going on. I would not trust a word out of anybody who would try to downplay their involvement in why a child is removed from their care. They are lying to you and themselves via omission.

she never gets specific about what happened but she’s so specific about listing mental health issues, gender identity, etc about her kids. i wish you were that specific when talking about what YOUVE done lady 🙄
