  Pretty sure that following advice from Bashrobe of setting up 5 tip-ups outside and one inside of the hut would be better than trying to bother fishing yourself at all because of the need to break ice all the time.

  Unless I am mistaken, if you keep an eye on your fishing tip up you can break them down before they reach 0 durability to harvest the metal. You can then use that metal to make another, rather than let the tip up break and be useless.

  A useful tip is to spray paint the direction back to where your staying or a breadcrumb line if a blizzard or fog rolls in.

  Another important note - Prybar and Heavy hammer are best to use to clear fishing hole, but only Heavy Hammer of those two - are repairable (with fir wood)<br>So for long runs - Heavy Hammer is best option

  The metal lures are ok for farming oil. More salmon and not too much more time.

  coho salmon at fishing lvl5 and bait can get you 7.5 kg salmon that when cooked can have high vitamin c and over 3000 calories not to mention the nice amount of oil

  Four months late, but I just discovered your channel: I think the only reason I would use lures is to increase my chances of catching the rare fish for the Expert Angler achievement from the Tales-Enhanced Survival Mode achievement set. It requires you to, in a singular game, catch Burbot, Goldeye, Red Irish Lord, and Rockfish.
