That steering column....I had the very same problem in 1988 !!...Luckily I had a friendly breakers yard back then and simply swopped the column out from a scrap car ...life was simple back then !

I like the Opel, but I'd do the work myself, 13,000 is to much of a loss. I bought a 1954 m38a1 24 volt military Jeep Willys, never titled for the road, was stored in a clean dry building. I'm getting ready to put it back together after removing frame to seal everything. Luckily the 24 volt is intact. The electrics are waterproof, housed distributor and regulator. They built these to go through a creek or river. Restoring car's is a passion, i love working on them. I'm cobbled up 55 year's young, cobbled up pretty good, so i was told to keep moving so the progressive MS won't put me in a wheel chair. I'm a lady without my mate, he passed when i were real young, i never re married. <br> I like this show, and saving car's is great.<br>G_d bless.

Out of interest, does anyone know are UK mechanics insured / road legal to test drive any car or do they have to register their name on that vehicle to DVLA etc ?
