  My father felt strongly enough about American Graffiti that he took our family to see it. I was 11, and it's still one of my all-time favorite films.

  I was born in the 1950s, grew up in the '60s and '70s and I thank God for being young during that time. American Graffiti and Happy Days made the 1950s cool in the 1970s. An amazing time.

  When young people today ask me what it was like to grow up in "My" day, I tell them to watch "American Graffiti".  It says it all.  And I'm SO grateful to have been there and lived it, because it will never be again.

  My Aunt Cindy Williams was in this movie.....launched her career..... My Dad - her older brother--- and my younger brother and me got to attend the premier and meet some of the stars....

  I was a senior at Petaluma High School in 1973. We knew they were filming the movie downtown during the summer of ‘72. It was so cool to see so much of our town and streets, the high school, and back roads in this movie. I love watching it still, it brings back so many memories of high school and growing up in CA.

  I was born in 1962. I was 11 when this movie came out. I remember my mom taking me to see the premier because I bugged her so much, and her shielding my eyes when the butt on the window was shown. I went with a friend the next year to a re-run at the theater and snuck in a reel-to-reel tape recorder and recorded the movie, and listened to it for several years in my bedroom. By 1978 when I was driving and all through all my high school years, my friends and I basically recreated that movie in our own lives from 1979 to 1982. I retire tomorrow at 64, but I will never forget the impact this movie had on my young life. (12/23/2025)

  I moved to Modesto in 1968. By then cruising was mostly done on McHenry Ave. It became nightly life for years. Man I miss those days!

  American Graffiti made understand my father a little more. My father was cool. He taught me his rock n roll and I taught him mine. We loved each other's music and became closer because of it.
