In this explosive climax to the first half of the siege (Season 2, Episode 9), Khalid ibn Walid and the Rashidun army are caught in the ultimate strategic nightmare: the terrifying Anvil and Hammer. The impenetrable stone walls of Damascus lie in front of them, while Emperor Heraclius unleashes a massive 12,000-man imperial relief army to smash into their exposed rear. Refusing to surrender the siege, Khalid executes a brilliant and deadly gamble. Leaving his infantry to hold the gruelling blockade, he takes his elite Mobile Guard and vanishes into the Syrian landscape to violently intercept the Emperor's reinforcements at the rapid, bloody Battle of Marj al-Saffar. But back at the city, the cold and calculating Byzantine commander Thomas realizes Khalid has dangerously thinned the siege lines. Seizing his golden opportunity, he orders a massive, synchronized multi-gate sortie. Thousands of heavy Roman infantry pour out of Damascus under a terrifying, sky-darkening storm of poisoned arrows. Witness the brutal, claustrophobic melee at the Jabiya Gate as legendary veteran Abu Ubaidah holds the line, and the brilliant fighting retreat by Amr bin Al Aas at the Northern Gate. Will Thomas's massive counter-attack shatter the desert warriors forever, or will the Sword of Allah return in time to deliver the final kinetic shock? 📺 WATCH PREVIOUS EPISODES: S2E1 (The False Start): [The "Other" Khalid: The Mistake That Woke ...] S2E2 (Battle of Wadi Araba & Dathin): [The Day the Roman Empire Realized It Was D...] S2E3 (The Suicide March): [How Khalid ibn al-Walid Made History’s Gre...] S2E4 (The Shadow from the East): [How Khalid ibn al-Walid Destroyed 3 Roman ...] S2E5 (The Black Walls of Bosra): [Khalid ibn al-Walid Conquest of Jewel City...] S2E6 (The Roman Juggernaut - Ajnadein Part 1): [When Rome Sent a Massive Army to Crush Kha...] S2E7 (The Clash of Empires - Ajnadein Part 2): [How Khalid ibn al-Walid Destroyed the Roma...] S2E8 (The Siege of Damascus Begins): [Khalid ibn al-Walid at Damascus: Conquest ...] S2E9 (Thomas Strikes Back - Siege of Damascus Part 2) [You are currently watching] 📺 WATCH SEASON 1 (The Iraq Campaign): [Khalid ibn al-Walid Iraq Campaign (All Bat...] #KhalidIbnWalid #SiegeOfDamascus #BattleOfMarjAlSaffar #IslamicHistory #Rashidun #MilitaryStrategy #Documentary #EarlyMuslimWars #ByzantineEmpire #MilitaryHistory Sources & Citations: 👉 Tarikh al-Tabari (History of the Prophets and Kings) by Muhammad ibn Jarir al-Tabari. 👉 Futuh al-Buldan (The Origins of the Islamic State) by Al-Baladhuri. 👉 Futuh al-Sham (The Islamic Conquest of Syria) by al-Imam al-Waqidi. 👉 The Sword of Allah: Khalid bin Al-Waleed, His Life and Campaigns by Lieutenant General A.I.
