“I’m a prisoner of my own corpse” sounds like the lyrics of a dark metal song, i often forget how dark stuff inspired by kids books get at time.

Vinny laughing almost every time the word "Freak" is used in a sentence was the best part of this segment.

Find yourself a girl that will dive into a mirror dimension and fight frog dudes with the power of radical skateboarding for you.

I like how the logical bad ending would be smth like “aww man, I’m gonna look like this forever!”

But instead they decided the endings should involve this kid either being shot and killed, or being forced to feel everything as a corpse, including the various autopsies done on him and presumably the following decaying process. Wild.

Edit: I forgot the ending that involves him experiencing BOTH.

I won't lie, being trapped in your own corpse for all eternity seems like literal Hell, especially with the added fact that you still feel all pain done to your body, which could include your body decomposing and rotting and bugs eating your body away

So i noticed in the credits had Storyboard Artist: Junco Aoyama. looked her up and she worked on a few 80s anime including most notably, the notorious crazy violent anime Wicked City as well as the cult classic Robot Carnival as an inbetweener (someone who draws the frames between key frames and breakdowns). she also worked on alot of western animation as well like Cartoon Network stuff later. she seems to have possibly passed away in '07 at 81 years of age. I was wondering if this was accurate but the last work she did was seemingly for cartoon network in 04-06 or so, and she passed as a resident of California where of course Burbank resides which is where of course Cartoon Network Studios was also located

id love to learn more about this lady

Jesus the pen pal story already had some brutal endings for children's media, but the bad endings of this one are among the darkest things I've seen for its target demographic.
