I feel like once you understand this, you can never "unsee" it - especially when seeing how the name of the Queen Mother is so prominently listed in 1 and 2 Kings for each and every ruler.

As usual, any discussion of the Theotokos flushes out all the demons. 🙏☦

This is why typology is good for understanding the Old and New Testaments.

Christians believe the Old Covenant prefigures the New Covenant. Typology helps us see that connection.

Reading about the queen mother in Brant Pitre's book is largely what won me over to the Catholic theology concerning her. I was already starting to pray the rosary, but it felt a little weird, or I was unsure how biblically stable my footing was. "Jesus and the Jewish Roots of Mary" was the book that helped me in that

When I was coming into the Church, I had a hard time with Mary as most protestants do. One big "Aha!" moment that changed things for me was understanding that Christ wants to share his glory and authority with his people. We aren't just powerless subjects of our king. Our king wants to heal us, teach us, and train us to have roles in his kingdom. If this is true of all his people in a general sense, how much more true is it of his own mother? This is the same mother who petitions Jesus for more wine at Cana, and though he didn't seem to have intended to do so at first, he grants his mother's request. Thank God for the intercession of the blessed Virgin Mary, our mother.

It is admittedly strange to have a kingdom with no queen figure. Love seeing the entire canon come together.
