Your browser is holding you back. Level up with Opera GX: https://operagx.gg/SkyBoi

CORRECTIONS:
- Lunar Client did not steal Replay Mod. According to the owner, they did not realize they were breaking the license.
- The clip at the start IS a mod from 2010, but the video itself is a few years newer.
- I plan to make a follow up video covering WHY Microsoft is doing this. Originally not allowing creators to be paid was a decision by Notch to create a community of hobbyists, but Microsoft realized they could use it to profit in a completely different way through bedrock's marketplace. Also will be advocating for a more nuanced solution than just "allow everyone to charge whatever they want!"

The worst part is: THIS ONLY AFFECTS JAVA MODDING, BEDROCK "MODDERS" CAN JUST POST SOME RANDOM SH#T AND CHARGE AS MANY "MINECOINS" AS THEY WANT! WHAT THE HECK MOJANG?

Preventing paywalling mods may sorta make sense from a business perspective, but saying you can't make money at ALL from modding is insane. Like, you can't even have a Patreon? Wtf?

Russian modder here, the revenue I used to get from Curseforge wasn't something I could live on, but still really really solid, comparable to a very good stipend. Well, until 2022 anyway. It was especially great considering it was a passive byproduct of projects I make just for the fun of it.

Oh well. If I could cash in my Curseforge points now, I could pay for a semester and maybe a couple months of rent. So yeah, it's actually nothing to sneeze at if you don't live in a first world country.

10:35 The fact that Mojang Developers get paid 100k each year just to add 2 new blocks and 1 unnecessary mob while Modders don't even get minimum wage for making whole ass dimensions and features is crazy.

Modders should be appreciated more.
