Fast forward nine years, and she was still living in the same apartment. However, when another studio became available on an upper level, she changed her ways. Inside, she's solved nearly every small-space problem twice over. The bed sits against the wall so the living room stays full-size. An IKEA sectional (assembled inside, legs removed, custom cover) lifts up to hide blankets and blackout curtains. The TV is a piece of art. The coffee table goes in the shower on dinner party nights. And the kitchen closet holds sweaters, luggage, a sewing machine, and a walking pad. There's also a vintage green tile backsplash she refused to paint over, a bookshelf of heirlooms going back four generations, a wall heater she pre-heats the bathroom with, and a crystal pig that was the only thing she packed when the LA fires threatened.
