Watching this vid, I found myself thinking I would have done some things differently. Then I realized I was sitting in my chair watching videos and you were out actually doing the work. (After having good laugh at myself.) I have subscribed to your channel because of your energy and enthusiasm, and your willingness to take us along on your Bonsai journey. I'm looking forward to watching your other videos.

Oh.... and that tree has potential for an awesome root jin on that high root, with the tree at a slant, maybe.....

I feel like we never really saw the tree with the camera so close the entire time. I’d prefer a zoom out to get a better look at it in its entirety. I look forward to future updates

Water is great, add some kelpac (wich even gets dehydrated rootless catts to root) truly helps. Had to transplant a mostly rootless tree mid summer wich rooted crazy hard with that kelpac help

I have done a great deal of tree collection. Constructive criticism, wrong soil, pure pumice is one of the best. Two, the largest root not covered is going to lead to die off all the way up the side of the tree. Three deciduous tree can be bare root with a garden hose. Four, the large root angling down as well as all the other largest roots should be cut horizontal with the ground, bottom of the box. The tree should be able to stand on its own at the angle you want. Root hormone will greatly help. Potting soil will kill collected trees. Doesn't sound write but it's true. This is a lot, hope you can still save your tree. Good luck.

I've seen landscapers use a tool for digging a tree up, I know it is expensive but would it be a viable option for extracting a yamadori?
