Bronco owners should just start a class action lawsuit and force them to fix it

Exceptional work! It’s rare to find a shop with this level of honesty, integrity, and diagnostic skill. Taking care of the customer and actually solving a problem the manufacturer couldn't speaks volumes. Keep up the great content!

My guess is that Ford and the part manufacturer are arguing over who’s at fault and how they’re going to share the cost.

There is now a documented service procedure from Ford.

The Software Patch: Under Safety Recall 25S75 / NHTSA 25V455, Ford developed an official PCM software update.

How the Official Procedure Works:

Step 1: The dealer hooks the vehicle up to Ford's FDRS (Ford Diagnostic & Repair System) and flashes the PCM with updated software code. This updates the control profile driving the fuel pump to operate within new electrical tolerances and prevents the internal circuit driver from tripping/locking out.

Step 2: If the PCM driver circuit or physical pump has already suffered irreversible hardware failure (like the Bronco in the video), the official repair guidelines direct the technician to replace the damaged component and immediately apply the new software update.

My advice: Make both the NHTSA and a Detroit TV station with an investigative reporter bureau aware of your video and solution. Then see where it goes from there.

Nice job, as always.

You are absolutely right. As a programmer for 42 years, I knew this was exactly what was happening after watching the first video. Analogy - say you have a problem with your web browser. Is it the browser? Is it a browser extension? Is it the OS? Is it your network adapter driver? Is it your DNS setting? Is it your network adapter? Is it your Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection? Is it your router? Is it your ISP? 42 years ago, programs talked directly to the hardware. If my program had a problem, it was almost certainly either my fault or sun spots that caused an electron in the hardware to go rogue. Try one more time and if it fails the same way, it's me. Nowadays, it's all through layers and layers of APIs and logical and physical connections. TCP/IP alone has 5 layers. But is it still Ford's fault? Can their software work around a problem in an underlying layer? Yes, programmers do it all the time, and Ford should be working 24/7 to find a way. Loved the video!

Thank you for being a great shop with videos like this. I enjoy watching your channel every week because it's not click bait, and you do your job daily like a real-world shop. It's not for likes. Just a great shop doing what it takes to get a real customer their vehicle back on the road. Above and beyond excellence.

I remember the good ol' days when the most difficult thing I had to do on my '73 LTD was replace the points, condenser, distributor cap & spark plug wires.

How times have changed. Great work, guys!

Ahh-Hah!! Sherwood, you're indeed shining a bright light on this problem. While most of my tech experience was with GM, computers are computers at the end of the day. I completely agree that the 'operating system' controls the basic functions of the module and is proprietary to the module (computer). Then, the vehicle manufacturer, in this instance FoMoCo, creates their own software to direct the module performance.
In my experience, the vehicle manufacturers invent the cheapest corrections for recalls. Some solutions make you wonder what the heck!! They're bowing to the accountants. I don't doubt Ford is negotiating with their supplier to give them the lowest price solution possible. Who knows, maybe Ford wants them to kick in some funds as well.
Good call!
