I clicked on this so fast!!! My husband and I have been married for almost 20 years and I don't know how we found out about Love and Respect, but we watched the DVDs in the beginning of our marriage and we still reference them today, even rewatching them every few years as a refresher. It has been monumental for our marriage!! I don't know where we would be if we hadn't been given this information when we were starting out! I'm a passionate believer in Love & Respect and I share it with all the couples I can! We're even beginning to share it with our teenagers to help set them up for success! In a world that has said for many years that a woman's POV is the only one that matters or even exists, Dr. Eggerichs' message is needed for both young men and women to understand, honor, and champion one another. Excellent guest choice WHOA team, and thank you Dr. Eggerichs for all you do!

Sadie, thank you for a fantastic podcast episode! I just wanted to say, regarding your personal question at the end - my husband's temperament is similar to your husband's, and I started praying for God to let me know if I should or should not speak the words that I was thinking about saying to my husband in the moment. I'm finding that I am hearing clearly through a feeling when I pray to the Lord to help me control my tongue, and show my husband respect. Sometimes I just need to delay the conversation, but when I hear a definite "no" to not say the thing, my husband has come to me later to reflect, apologize if needed, and have the discussion EVERY TIME. God bless you kids, and may your marriage continue to grow in love!❤

His book was exactly what we needed when we were going through a difficult time in our marriage. We went to some conferences in years following as refreshers to help strengthen the concepts and apply them to our marriage. Such great truths !! Thank you !

Loved this episode! I’m so glad Christian asked that last questions because saaaame! I really needed to hear Dr. Emerson’s words of wisdom and encouragement with perfectionism.

The Lord also placed Love and Respect in our lives at the perfect time! On our honeymoon my husband was asking every married couple we met their best piece of marriage advice. One couple recommended this book to us. One week after our honeymoon I was visiting my sister and she was cleaning out her closet and handed me this book and said "we have two copies, you can have this one" and inside the book was a handwritten note to my sister and her husband from Dr. Emerson who gifted them two copies for their wedding. This confirmed to me that God was wanting my husband and I to read this book! It was a whoa that's God moment for sure!

Dr. Eggerichs was out pastor from quite a while at East Lansing Trinity Church. He and Sarah were inspirations to all of us and we were sad when they left. Our loss was a huge gain for those who have read his book and gone to conferences. To hear him say a Presbyterian pastor gave tickets to the movie struck a cord because when I was 13 I was attending a Presbyterian Church in downtown Lansing and Pete Gilquist the author of the book the movie was based on came to our church and talked to the youth. It was the first time I heard the real gospel. A year later I became a Christian and it was because of the book and it's author and the seed that was planted. I didn't know that was what led Emerson to the Lord. The book was powerful and so was the movie. Loved this podcast with him. Thank you! ♥️

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, that was another good one Sadie (& Christian too)!, I am a 66 yr old mom & Grammy and I listen to most of your podcasts as well as a being a listener of the Unashamed podcast. This topic was so timely! I’ve spent a couple hours in the last week looking for a marriage “enrichment” book. I’m going to check this one out. I’m curious how y’all read it? Together, separately? I see there is a workbook too. I wish the Dr would’ve described what an “Honorable Man” looks like. Thank you and Christian both for being honest about seeking marital counseling. A lot of couples wait until it’s too late. I’ve never understood that. We do regular maintenance on most everything else in our lives, cars, houses, our bodies, yet we neglect the importance of marriage/relationship maintenance. Great conversation!
