  About Nobuo Fujita and his katana... He wasn&apos;t initially intending to give the town his family katana. He felt that his presence would get a hostile reaction, so he was willing to commit seppuku. The Oregonians were naturally shocked at this, and instead opted to talk him out of that and genuinely welcomed him as a guest. He ended up becoming an honorary citizen of that town shortly before he passed of lung cancer in 1997.

  Sad fact about the Monongah Mine disaster. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rub8GdksFs0&amp;t=8543">2:22:23</a> It&apos;s rumored that there were numerous children in the mines that day with their fathers having gone down with them due to no laws stopping them at the time. To this day it&apos;s not known exactly how many of them died alongside their parents when the mine went up. In Monongah there&apos;s a statue dedicated to the families who remained in their memory and for the widowed wives. (I know this because I grew up in Fairmont, which is a short drive away from Monongah, so we&apos;re taught about this disaster yearly when the date comes around).

  Fun fact about that couple who went to Alaska to get mauled by bears! There&apos;s obviously a ton more to the story but one thing is it was recorded. You can listen to the audio of the guy getting mauled and the bear turning to the woman to mauled her to, its horrifying but goes to show that even with that incident people STILL don&apos;t understand to leave animals alone.

The fact that she was born on a day of mourning and the earthquake happened the day before was considered a dark omen for her future by many at that time.

  If I remember correctly, Peggy was the real life Sniper Elite of WW1 because not only did he kick ass with the rifle, he also snuck around the enemy trenches, killed and captured those he found, and brought back the supplies he got. Man was CRAZY.
