  Whether or not they were “on a break,” the fact that Ross lied and tried to hide what he did is extremely telling

  Thank you SofieReacts! Exactly what I think. You don&apos;t do that to somebody mere hours after the break up. Plus, it was their anniversary, which makes it even worse. You say you loved Rachel since College, but you just don&apos;t do that to somebody you claim you love. Even if Rachel did sleep with Mark, two wrongs don&apos;t make a right. And like Monica said, even if Mark wanted to sleep with Rachel, doesn&apos;t mean he gets to. Bottom line is that he didn&apos;t trust Rachel. Were they on a break? Yes, but that doesn&apos;t excuse what he did. He broke her trust and her heart.

  The worst part about this break up is Ross CONSISTENTLY tries to excuse himself from any responsibility. Ross&apos;s biggest flaw is his inability to take responsibility for his own actions due to his upbringing of never wanting to disappoint his parents even if he has to lie to avoid it. So Ross just keeps digging his own grave trying to side step or try to gaslight Rachel into thinking they can just move on immediately because they love each other. Betrayal is not something you can get over quickly even if you love someone.

  Never confuse a BREAK with a BREAKUP. <br><br>A break is just both partners taking some time away from each other to sort things out/reflect/take a breather, but you&apos;re still together and don&apos;t see other people.<br><br>Don&apos;t even need to explain what a breakup is.
