I promise you that this video is strictly just trying to appeal to the public. They still yell and smoke trainees.

As someone who went to BCT last year, they still yell and smoke the fuck out of you unhingedly, is it bad? of course not, best thing that happened to me, helped me come out of my shell and become confident as I went from a sheltered home to a stressed induced environment. Stay strong brothers, and those who wish to join, your drills are there to break you, but to make you, don't take it personal, because once those 10 weeks are done, you'll be someone you never thought you would become.

33 years of age. I’ve lost 50lbs to get enlisted. I’ll be shipping out for Basic Training September 30th, very soon. I’m very excited, but nervous as well. I’m doing this for myself, as well as for my family.

I enlisted after failing in college in the mid 80’s. The Army straightened me out and got me focused. Went back to college and thank you Jesus, I succeeded and graduated with my degree. I never had to be deployed. God bless all the recruits, keep your head and never fire more than twice from the same place.

I commend all who joined, past and present. I joined in 97 and retired in 18. 3 combat tours to Iraq. I can&apos;t begin to tell you the friends and connections I have made over the years. Yes, this is all for the camera, but what these soldiers volunteer to give to their country speaks volumes. Joining was the best decision I ever made because you become a part of something bigger than yourself. You learn skills that will stay with you for these rest of your life. I use more skills today in my daily life that I learned here than what I learned in high school. Communication, teamwork, discipline, comradery, understanding, sleep deprivation, food rationing and leadership skills. I was/am an American Soldier.

I was working and going to college full-time, &nbsp;paying rent and other bills. I was 21 years old and realized what I was doing wasn&apos;t working. &nbsp;I joined the Army 6mo later only for 2 years. 2yrs became 5yrs ,5yrs became 10yrs.<br>During my 24 years in the army I was a DS, deployed more times than I care to remember, and saw things that no one should ever see or experience. Would I do it all again, the answer is yes. Watching this videos I see how much the approach to training civilians to Soldiers has changed. The military is not for everyone but for those that dont see a future or lack guidance the military might be a option. My son is 17 and still trying to find his way. His still thinking about joining.

I loved basic training, I worked out before, push ups, sit ups, running... I got a back pack with some books and run. I had a job before I joined so had some discipline. I always went camping, Forest exploring. Basic was tough, yes, but you will look back at it your whole life... will be the best time you ever had. At 80 you will dream to go to basic training again.
