In the Japanese Mario OVA, Bowser tries to force Peach to marry him by kidnapping her. He never tries to hurt her and even attempts to joke around with her to cheer her up when she's scared by him.

Ya know, at the end of Oddysy, I loved how Mario and Bowser just had that bro-to-bro moment when Peach straight up rejected both of them lol.
