Caring about the core’s quality over a flood of unnecessary “features” is what really sold pi for me. Also Mario is a funny a guy who likes to keep reminding us that he is old.

Guy is absolute on my wave length with his understanding of the human role working with AI. Not to be replaced or some bs "human in the loop" just sitting their mindlessly hitting "approve". No to him human agency is the beating heart of the system. And no clanker can replace that.

Reminds me of the story called “stone soup”. You start with a stone, then a handful of grain, any amount of fat, a tiny piece of meat, maybe a wee bit of salt, some water and voila! You have soup.

"Fewer features, but the right ones, polished" - that used to be the unix philosophy when you had to make do with commands like "ls", cp", "rm" or "cat": do <b>one</b> thing - but do it right. Yes, I know that doesn't apply to everything but it's a principle worth having prominently in your tool chest. Stringing together atomic actions instead of cramming every conceivable feature into one bloated mega-app sometimes is far more efficient and has much less friction than most people can imagine.
