Did you notice Haviv's lack of ego in not reacting to Montefiori's well deserved compliments?

Something you have to be aware of with Mr Montefiore is that there are consequences to asking him a question and you do so at your own peril. He is the greatest of storytellers and one subject leads to another which opens up to another and another and you don’t realise how much he has covered. Before you know it, he has produced a lecture at the highest level and making it all sound so interesting and easy to understand.. This is the third interview I have watched with him regarding his new book.
Mind you, Haviv is responsible for my Middle East history addiction having watched so many of his marvellous lectures and interviews.
I'm such an expert at dinner parties now - when I speak people listen with their mouths agape!! 😆
🌿🌸🌿

My grandma was a Christian and an Ottoman citizen, ethnically cleansed out of what is now Türkiye in 1922. She told me her story many times, and it was brutal. Sometimes I wonder what would have happened without her sacrifice. I would have probably be born there, to become something like the Palestinians, forever fighting, banging my head against the same brick wall, and waiting for Greta Thunberg to come and save me. No thanks. I owe my grandma a lot.

Can we remember the Jewish units fighting with the British at Gallipoli, also in Italy against the Germans.

Great video, you two. Respect from Nigeria. I watched Simon on Triggernometry yesterday😲👍 Great content, and also here too. Objective, well presented and researched all around. It's genuinely refreshing to see objective and non-partisan analysis of the middle east these days.

Thanks for a detailed review of the historical background of the Middle East. Some reference to the title, namely, why Western ideas crash and burn in the Middle East, would have helped a lot.
