Telling an actress NOT to read source material and having Stan Lee decline to make a cameo? What the hell were they thinking?

This barely feels like a family. It's like they are doing a group project together, and the teacher picks the groups.

In this movie, Ben Grimm’s iconic catchphrase “It’s clobberin’ time!” wasn’t born out of a love for getting into a good scrape , but from abuse from his older brother. Trank REALLY didn’t want to make an FF movie.

This movie's pacing is so bizarre. There's a beginning and an end, but no middle. I remember people mumuring in the theater during the final fight "wait, is this the finale already?"

3:46 Damn, that sucks to hear Kate Mara genuinely wanted to read F4 comics to prepare for the role and learn more about Sue, but was then told specifically not to. Immediate red flag.

But that's sweet to hear it at least brought her and Jamie Bell together. 😊

The drama behind the scenes was more interesting than the movie itself.

The fact that Tommy Wiseau was a big fan of the 2015 Fantastic Four movie tells me everything I ever need to know about him. Also, him directing a big budget superhero film would be fascinating and awful and I would be in the theaters on opening day.

I’ve always hated when a movie tries to force the audience into believing a group of characters are suddenly “friends,” even though they’ve barely spent any meaningful time together and have zero chemistry. Not even Johnny and Sue Storm felt convincing as siblings in Fant4stic and that’s supposed to be the easiest relationship to sell. Ouch. That’s one of the biggest reasons Suicide Squad (2016) fell apart, when Harley Quinn suddenly refers to the team as her “friends,” it just feels so unearned and awkward. They didn’t feel like a team, they felt like strangers who accidentally showed up in the same Halloween aisle. Meanwhile, Guardians of the Galaxy worked because it actually took the time to build those connections. It made us care about a bunch of misfits who had just met, by showing conflict, vulnerability, and growth, not just lazily telling us they’re a family and expecting us to go along with it

Fun Fact: Fant4stic flopped so badly and lost the studio so much money that it directly impacted another project, the unproduced Gambit movie. Rupert Wyatt, who was set to direct the film with Channing Tatum in the lead, ended up leaving after Fox slashed the budget considerably following Fant4stic's failure. The problem? They refused to allow the script to be rewritten to reflect the new budget, even though production was only about 10 weeks away
