  Nothing happened. He’s been kicking men’s football since a teen. In a position where he’s expected to be explosive and quick. When that’s a major sort of your game, ofcourse age is going to catch up to you.

  He was already declining in performance after his stellar 2021 season when he reached the UCL and Euro finals. I still have fond memories of him winning me alot of Stake parlays and getting me tons of fantasy points when no one els had him 👏 He played important roles for both City and England due to his pace which stretched the defense thus providing more space for everyone else. Now that his pace is gone hes lost his most important weapon 😞

  He just got old. Knees start going around 30 years old, and fast, like overnight. He gets too much hate. Was a very decent winger in his prime.

  I’m a Chelsea fan and let me tell you. Throughout all the season I watched him play and his declining happened way before.<br>He’s declining happened already at 24/25 years old.<br>I remember telling my friend that Sterling was in a state that he wasn’t improving, that he would be the same player forever. My friend replied to me that he agreed with me that Sterling already peaked.<br>He was at his best at Euros 2020.<br>He declined because of injuries, which made him lost his speed, which was his best asset.<br>Meaning Sterling is a player whose career was supposed to be short, he isn’t a top player anymore since before he went to Chelsea. That’s the reason why Guardiola sold him.

  Sad to see his dropoff this nasty. Because I absolutely loved him when he was an upcoming goalscoring machine in Liverpool. And when he left, no one could really fill his boots as far as his agility and his scoring prowess are concerned until much later with Mane. The only person right now that is the closest thing to that upcoming phase of Sterling is Rio Ngumoha.

  I just think Sterling had a short shelf life in terms of his career. He was gone as a player during his last 2 seasons at Man City. His form and confidence hit rock bottom.

  Its pretty astonishing Sterling even made it this far. Defeating the odds by becoming a footballer is one thing but fulfilling your potential and excelling at the highest level takes extreme discipline and mental resilience. Sancho for example &nbsp;is from a similar background and is just as talented but is simply unable to constantly put the work in and handle the relentless pressure that comes with being an elite level footballer. When things got tough Sterling rose to the challenge instead of just saying screw it, down tools and keep collecting a huge wage every week because lets be honest why not
