  Thank you all for geeking out with me! I’ve loved reading your thoughts on the &apos;windowpane&apos; vest and the &apos;devotion language&apos; of those muddy hems.   Awesome Job 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I think the reason why Lizzie was mirroring her father is because she was the son he never had. She was his favorite and she just automatically was his “Mini-Me”. They both had their own special unique relationship and he did support her at all times. ❤

  Georgiana might have learned the song I hopes of getting to meet Elizabeth and being able to offer a song they both knew and could play together to hang out and enthusiastically support her brother’s choice just based on how he looks and acts telling Georgiana about Elizabeth. She’s a kind and enthusiastic soul in this movie, and it makes sense that she would want to figure out a way to make Elizabeth welcome and and have an excuse to sit together.

  Joe Wright said that that the song Elizabeth hears at pemberly is the same song Mary is practicing at home so that when she first goes to pemberly it feels like home.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_G7KWHuG2c&amp;t=1941">32:21</a> what really solidifies that Darcy sees and appreciates her for who she is is when she is at Pemberly and he offers her a carriage ride back to town but she says “I’m rather fond of walking” and he says “yes I know” with this look of adoration that gets me every time. Ugh! One of the most underrated romantic moments of the movie

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_G7KWHuG2c&amp;t=2584">43:04</a> I will grant you that Caroline&apos;s sleeveless gown is probably the most jarring anachronism in the movie, but I felt like it worked for her character. Let me explain.<br><br>Technically, the Bennets outrank the Bingleys. The Bennets are landed gentry. The Bingleys are new money, trying to establish themselves as gentry, which is why they let Netherfield. Darcy is way above them, but he and Bingley must have become friends at school, and that friendship has opened many doors for them. Caroline recognizes that Darcy is likely the richest, highest-class person she knows or can even reach, so she has been throwing herself at him for years. I think the sleeveless gown was an attempt to be bold in order to catch his attention. What she didn&apos;t realize is that it is not the kind of boldness he appreciates. Caroline breaks social convention for attention and to stand out. Lizzie breaks it for more practical reasons like the 6-inches of mud on the hem rushing to her sister or wearing clothes that are more practical, comfortable, and masculine rather than pretty and feminine. <br><br>I like the 2005 better, but I do admit that the 1995 does have more time to explore Caroline&apos;s character and how she&apos;s constantly trying things to attempt to catch Darcy&apos;s attention, but she just keeps missing the mark. And the book describes her and her sister as wearing gaudy orange colors that clash with their skin tone to kind of show their lack of taste in their new money. <br><br>The 2005 film chose to make Caroline much more classy and refined than the book or the 1995 in that her clothes look fashionable and flattering and not gaudy and outlandish. So going with that, this is Caroline attempting to be bold and looking fabulous while she does it, but in a room full of women with sleeves long gloves, it looks inappropriate, and I feel that is deliberate. Elizabeth&apos;s lack of gloves is not nearly as jarring because everything above her bust goes along with the rest of the room.<br><br>As a side note, like the Bennets, the Darcys are also landed gentry, but there is still a class disparity between them because Darcy is the very highest you can be in the gentry, nearly nobility because his mother was a daughter of an Earl, so she was a Lady with a capital &quot;L,&quot; and he owns a lot more land and has a lot more liquid assets at his disposal. The Bennets are landed gentry and have some money at their disposal, but not nearly as much, and it&apos;s on the cusp of being lost to them because their father&apos;s heir is a distant cousin, not a brother. So that&apos;s where each family lands. Bennets at the bottom of the gentry because they&apos;re going to lose it. Bingleys are in the middle because they&apos;ve just come into money and are trying to establish themselves as gentry. And the Darcys are very firmly at the top of the gentry because they have been there for years, their position is secure, they have plenty of money, and they&apos;re even edging into nobility because they have noble relatives.
