  Ozone does get used for municipal water sterilisation, but I tend to associate that device you have there as being a bit of a quack product for people who want everything to be sanitized. &nbsp;The mg per hour ratings of these machines are usually completely made up. &nbsp;There is often an option for feeding in pure oxygen for a higher ozone output.<br>The glut of cheap machines on the market these days was caused by their mass proliferation during the pandemic. &nbsp;When normality returned they were selling them cheaply to clear the stock out of the warehouses.<br>A very rough rule of thumb for ozone exposure is that if you can smell it then there&apos;s too much, so don&apos;t stay in that area for too long.

  I own a used bookstore and it’s often that cigarette odors mean the end of a book’s life cycle, despite any cleaning or repairs I can do to it. But you’ve just given me the most wonderful idea.

  I used to rent cars on Turo and some people would smoke in them. I used the ozone generator, but also would just wipe down every surface in the car, and then sprinkle baking soda on all of the carpet and seats and let it sit over night, then vacuum it up. &nbsp;That helped a lot too.

  It works for almost any smell. The insurance did that to my flat after a fire in the house. They also collected all my stuff and put it into an ozone chamber. &nbsp;Got them back 2 weeks later at an address of my choice. Cheapest move I have ever done.

  My wife and I considered buying a house that had been smoked in for decades. &nbsp;We looked into how much it would cost to clean the place. &nbsp;It was insane. &nbsp;The tar was on every surface, it was in the voids of the walls, in the attic, of course in all the ductwork. &nbsp;It would have cost almost $100k to remove the mess. &nbsp;We didn&apos;t buy it.
