'Also water compatible' made me laugh hard. Loved the merch ad! ...and loved the guys, too.

wait, you mean to tell me Marty and Darren both enjoyed a good movie that Jack had extremely niche issues with?! surprised Pikachu face

lmao but fr, Jack talking about Barbarian as *shallow*?? that just floors me man. that film has so, so much going on in it. and i think the film genuinely makes you feel empathy for the "monster" in it! idk, it really seems like Jack completely misread the subtext of Barbarian (and undervalued the subtext of RE, as Darren beautifully describes was so well executed and woven throughout the film) to the point that now he's assuming Cregger has issues with women? c'mon now. i love ya Jack but sometimes you thoroughly confuse me lol

I just had to explain to my supervisor (who is younger than me) why hearing you are watching "Breakin'" made me laugh out loud as he walked over to me. Love the movie choice.

loved the resident evil movie, but i can understand a lot of jack’s gripes. But I was surprised by his Barbarian gripes, but i haven’t seen that Miss March movie lol. I see the Barbarian monster being similar to Nikki in Obsession, where the ‘villainy’ is merely a symptom of the societal structures and attitudes that devalue and endanger women. I actually felt a lot of empathy for the Barbarian monster.

Anyway, also continuing (and almost done with) my X Files watch thru. ‘I want to Believe’ (OG cut) was a bit clumsy but i enjoyed the atmosphere and craft behind it, and Chris Carter’s preachiness and messaging wasn’t tooooo unbearable. Meanwhile S10 was a split where i loved everything without a CC writing credit and hated everything with a CC writing credit lol. Very weird to see things like an Alex Jones esque character as a hero of the story, and post 9/11 Islamophobia in a MOTW episode.

To Jack, I think there is more going on in Barbarian then you give it credit for but also most of the time I watched it through a sympathetic lens to the monster as a victim of the situation. Something who didn't know much better and felt bad for the final moments of the movie. That being said, I also am unsure like you, about the characterization of the main actress and why she was so willing to keep going back into the dangerous situation and risk herself. It might be something like she was just that "good" of a person, or maybe it ties back into the earlier discussion of her relationships with men and continuously going back into toxic relationships. Hard to say, I never watched Ms. March and remember it being made at the time and only had minor interest because of the Whitest Kids You Know, but the trailers and the mainline boner comedy aspect never really landed for me. I could believe that watching it might shed some light on Zack Creggor or shading your view of his other movies after watching it.

ok, Jak's opinions on Resident Evil is one thing, but I am just extremely curious with his opinion on TADC because I have no god damn idea to what he is so harsh about. Like, yea the show is far from perfect, but what was he expecting when talking about the mystery box?
