  I clearly recall that era.<br>For well over a year after the Erotica album, <br>SEX Book, and Body of Evidence film came<br>out, both print and TV news media trashed<br>her, her looks, her art, and her creativity to<br>almost no end.<br><br>Madonna was &quot;canceled&quot; before canceling <br>someone became a pop-culture phenomenon.<br><br>So many of the current pop girlies could <br>never survive, and thrive the way Madonna<br>did back then. <br><br>Madonna is STILL doing that to this very day.

  This specific era of Madonna was so fabulous. &nbsp;I was a freshman in high school and she was pushing boundaries and it was so exciting.

  This is when she became the God of Gays. She pushed against the demonization of gays due to AIDS. This was a scary time for people and she was the face of a community that was dying. Made women stronger in their choices. She truly was a force no one can deny.

  She held herself up so unbelievably well considering the relentless pile on from the media during this era. Others would have, and have, crumbled. I mean, there’s always a media pile on with Madonna, but this era felt particularly cruel. The far right was in constant clutch of their pearls over what Madonna was showing the world; god forbid anyone expanded their minds and narrowed their prejudices. <br><br>Edit: ughh the questions the men asked her, and she just carries on, very mindful, very demure. “Where do you see yourself in 10 years” is low key “You know, you can’t go running around naked forever, young lady.” 🙄 😊

  She looks like a 1930s movie star. The blurry video quality gives such a dream like feeling. It seems like that time in the early 90s had different light, scent and feel in general compared to today.

  Interesting time in Madonna’s career/life! This was during the height of the backlash caused by her ‘SEX’ (1992) book and provocative image with videos, magazines, music and film. But she toughed it out and taught us all a lesson on the importance of maintaining a good sense of humor and surrounding yourself with people who get you. I remember one interview where they asked her how she would like to be remembered, and Madonna answered “I’d like to be remembered as a survivor.” The eternal QUEEN 👑
