That's right they need a algorithm to only get better.😊

I have tried to find a reference to the AI councellor story. I dont see one after a few minutes Google search. Anyone know this event is true?

Because they just suggested?

This feels like cope. Trying to apply older paradigms to newer technology. I do not think the end is in sight for AI technology. ChatGPT isn't surveying the internet, the data is compressed into it's model weights and inputs are processed through it's layers to produce output tokens. Models are already creating synthetic data for training, there are many permutations within our existing data space that will enable us to solve the sciences and progress beyond our current understanding of the universe. Just because you can't imagine a future of super intelligent AI doesn't mean it can't happen.

The title in no way reflects his point. Humans cannot slot into any AI system and "outperform" an AI. His point was humans are freed from their jobs, not that they outperform on a task. He used the example of elevator operator. That job was automated in the past and today no human outperforms the automatic system on that task. He also mentioned he started using computers in 1962. In 1962, the human profession of "computer" still existed, although it was almost extinct by that time. Humans lost the job of "computer" and never outperformed the machine in that task again. Indeed, it isn't even a human process any more, you couldn't slot in if you wanted. You don't run 24/7, you don't have an ethernet jack, nobody can plug a keyboard into you and get you output a game of rocket league. You get my point. The future may indeed be bright for humans, but we will simply accept that there are certain workflows that are automated and not for humans to do, but the short term issue, is of course, it is a lot of displacement all at once. So many examples are on the horizoan, automated systems that replace uber drivers. automated systems that replace junior programmers. automated systems that replace translators and junior paralegals, the list could be extensive and indeed we may want list what jobs are safe - only humans can have elected office, so politician is safe. Childcare should be somwhat safe. It'll take a little longer for advanced robotics to replace a plumber. Anyway, I do agree with the author that the future could be bright for human's, to get to that bright future requires concern. Right now most of the concern is coming from the doomer's and for this reason, I'm not reassured we are on the right track yet.

chatGPT scores only 26% on High school maths, but Navier Stokes was just solved by OpenAI - why is he not addressing this?

May be true in the direction you say but not in reality.😊
