Unbelievable that this line is not yet electrified. Years and years of a lack of investment by inept government.

Note: Hitachi interiors could be very good if operators paid for it.

    Here we are in July
That aged like fine milk. Emergency timetable in place due to poor reliability.

So yet another train is introduced that are less comfortable than predecessor’s. The original 125 train from 50 years ago was by far the most comfortable train I have travelled on in the UK in both First and Standard classes. In recent years I have have travelled on the equivalent of “Inter-City/Long Distance” trains in both France and Italy and I have to say that found both to be far more comfortable and better value than what we in the UK are asked to put up with.

Something I never see people say is how the lighting on the meridians is probably the best in the UK, it’s warm and soft on the eyes, I’ll miss it

I like the front design of the class 800 a bit more

It seems as if seats are getiing less and less comfortable. Anyone who has been on a heritage line (not light rail) can testify to the wonderful plush comfort of the seats.

The First Class customer lounges along the Midland Main Line between London and Sheffield were closed TEMPORARILY due to the Covid-19 lockdown which began in March, 2020. That's what passengers were told. The closures were not intended to be permanent. The lounges were required for train crew who had to practice social distancing in order to avoid catching the virus. As soon as the pandemic was over, the First Class customer lounges would open again. That's what they told us!

EMR really didn't look after the Meridians very well.

The irony of claiming released reliability contrasting with your struggle to get one that doesn't develop a fault. The toilets were locking people in 😅.

I think the best way to describe these trains is the best version of the IET so far. Which people can take as they wish.
