  My old boss told me this strategy and it&apos;s unbelievably successful. When a narcissist confronts you with a statement that surprises you, do two things. 1. Ask why did you say that? And 2. Hold eye contact for as long as you can. 30 seconds is about right. Don&apos;t allow any response that isn&apos;t about why they said something. Come back again &quot;why did you say that!&quot;. It&apos;s priceless but YOU MUST combine the &nbsp; stare.

  I have found that simply ignoring what they say doesn’t work. It doesn’t stop them from doing it another time. They will quietly smile thinking they just got a free shot at you without any repercussions. When someone tries to shit on you, your job is to glue broken glass to the seat so they’ll think twice about ever doing it again.

  Actually managed to shut up my narc the other day. He tried to start what I call the &apos;corkscrew conversation&apos;, twisting my words and trying to change the context of what I said. So I just responded &quot;Too bad your ears aren&apos;t capable of hearing the actual words that someone else says. Talk to your brain about it.&quot; Then I stood up and went into another room. Sure enough he tried &apos;friendly&apos; weaseling back into the convo and I gray rocked with zero response.

  Once you discern you are dealing with an exploitative abusive narcisist, don’t engage and walk away. We should not let ourselves be controlled by evil actions and intentions of those cruel people.
