I know someone who went to Auburn and played football there at the same time Kaz was training there. He told me this story about Kaz, and how everyday he would come into the cafeteria for lunch. He would have two trays, one for his food, and one for 20-21 pint sized milk's that Kaz would drink everyday with lunch. This guy said he was watching as Kaz put down these milk's one after another, at about the 18th one he noticed Kaz was wincing as he drank the milk. He said he struggled to get that one down, and then he easily finished the rest on the tray. My friend said he later asked Kaz, "what was up with that one milk you were having trouble with"? Kaz told him it was sour, my friend asked, "well why did you drink it, why didn't you just drink the others and thrown that one away?" He said Kaz looked at him and said: "Because you gotta finish what you start!" That should explain everything you need to know about that guy!

Kaz is the greatest character in strongman history, IMO. Met him several times over the years. He showed me nothing but grace. Great guy.

When I was a teenager in the 80’s and just starting to compete in powerlifting meets, I saw an issue of powerlifting USA with Bill on the cover. His traps were so enormous, he became one of my idols immediately. He always talked about giving everything that you had in training and competition, in life itself. I was never going to be any kind of powerlifting legend but I competed for about 15 years, I trained my ass off, I made so many great friends and I had a blast. What more could I ask for? Thanks Bill!
