I remember taking private lessons with his mother and father when Roman was only starting to walk. He pulled himself up on the leg of the free standing barre, stood in a perfect 180 degree turn out, and would do a perfect grande plié while saying "down and up!" Not an exaggeration.

Roman and Chunner are my two favorite NYCB dancers. They are always exciting to watch. I particularly love seeing them at Vail, where they can experiment and try new things.

In addition to his enormous talent Roman has a beautiful smile.
