I love that it was Death Battle that pointed out that Blade, THE Black superhero, had hundreds less comics than fucking Buffy the Vampire Slayer; a character that originated on TV and was around 20 years less than Blade.

The truth is: black characters are to multi-layered…and what’s does a non-black person know about the layers of being black? More and more black writers/artist are popping up so keep shooting! We need black heros.

John Stewart being an architect would have been far more aligned with his brilliant use of Green Lantern constructs as he would have had an undeniable understanding of structure and forms.

Something I often think about is how when it comes to black superheroes in general they are never allowed to just be themselves. By nature of their existence of being Black we have to constantly prove ourselves and be vehicles to tell stories about inequality and oppression. This isn’t a “TOO WOKE” take but it’s always a layer that too many none black writers feel like they have to add otherwise they’re “missing “out on some groundbreaking narrative

Apply it when it’s appropriate but dawg a part of me just want to feel free and seen with these black superheroes , when you mentioned the black superman movie how they wanted it to be focused on civil rights I just felt all the air leave my body cause it’s like by virtue of them being black they HAVE to be a vehicle about racism and inequality but it’s like dawg can we just exist?

Milestone was such a breath of fresh air, back in the day.

That Batgirl canning was a tax write-off. John Riddley making Lucious Fox a cheater was uncalled for and DCs apparent distaste for Jace Fox is wild. I agree Sam got a raw deal, because the show could've been elite before the changes due to the pandemic

It's crazy with some of these characters you have to hope and pray that they get a 10 page story in February to get anything from them! Great video and keep it up!

Jon Stewart reminds me that DC has so many heroes with military backgrounds, that they just never use—Unless they want to make them a dime a dozen Shield agent. they only wheel them out when they want someone to play the government stooge like Captain Atom, or in John's case make a reference.

I'm glad that black writers are improving black superheroes! I also suggest black cartoonists to self-publish their own characters, as I have.
