Red Mages do have one thing they’re better at than every other class. No one has that shit on like a Red Mage.

A jack of all trades but the masters of style. Red mage will always be one of my favorite jobs in Final Fantasy along with Dark Knights.

It's worth mentioning that it's likely that the original Red Mage, given all the Dungeons & Dragons influence on the original Final Fantasy, is inspired by the Bard class. It's the original "jack of all trades" class with access to both weapons and magic.

That's probably why it's got that snazzy feathered hat; it's a very bardly accessory.

FF14 is the quintessential red mage to me.

While they are a magic DPS class, thematically, they still go into melee as well, utilize both sides of their magic, and have a very cool visual flare of their sword becoming a "staff" during casting.
