Meyer Lansky retired in Miami Beach. I grew up in Miami Beach. Meyer used to come in to my mother's place of business, and he was always a gentleman. In fact he always brought my mom a gift at Christmas, Easter and so on. My mom said that he was a very kind man.

I believe he lost most of his green in Cuba. They say the less you have to hide, the more graceful you are with everybody, and I think Meyer Lansky accepted his fate and dealt with it until his last day. The big guys had nothing to fear from him, so they let him quietly live out his final days.

Lansky is mentioned in the new movie "The Creepers". The people changed the gangster with the hidden cash who was Carlisle in the book to Meyer Lansky.
